REPAS/ARC Paisley

Paisley Case Studies (ARC/REPAS)

Prior to registering with Renfrewshire Employability Partnership Adult Employability Services, Ian had been unemployed for 6 months and was looking for additional support to get back into the workplace.

Ian’s background was Retail Management and during his working life, he had gained many transferable skills. Despite a few disappointments regarding job applications / interviews, he remained hopeful and keen to secure a position where he could put his current skills to good use and learn new skills.

During his initial registration, Ian and his Employability Advisor discussed how the project could assist him. Ian was interested in having his current CV reviewed and he was also interested in our job matching service / regular vacancy alerts.

The ARC Team sent out vacancies via email to the Employability Advisors, which included one for an Airport Services Airport that they had been asked to manage. Ian applied felt that he had the skills and attitude required for this post with Weigh Ahead and applied for the position with the help of his Employability Advisor. Ian’s interview was successful, but due to timing of his interview, he was unable to undertake the training element via the Sector Based Work Academy model. A Flexible Funding Application form was submitted and agreed, which led to a job offer for Ian (subject to successful training).

Ian was delighted to start work with Weigh Ahead in June 2013. His organisational and management skills were very quickly recognised by his employer and in July 2013, he was promoted to Airport Service Supervisor. Following on from this success, Ian was offered another promotion to Duty Manager in the Store in September 2013.

Julie was made redundant in May 2012, she managed to get 5 weeks temping work in October 2012, but couldn’t find more sustainable employment. Julie was told about The Lennox Partnership by her Job Centre Advisor; she then self-referred to REPAS and was registered with Employability Advisor, Alison Chambers, in February 2013. Alison worked with Julie to update her CV, arrange for ‘Better Off Calculations’ through Advice Works, assist with job search activity, send Julie daily vacancy updates and provide advice and guidance on interview techniques and all aspects of returning to work. In May 2013, Julie successfully secured full time employment to start on as a Clerical Administrator with NHS. Alison continued to provide further aftercare support to Julie during her first 6 months in employment.

Julie said “Having only had five weeks work since being made redundant in May 2012, I phoned The Lennox Partnership and made an appointment to register with them. I met with Alison Chambers, who was my Employment Advisor. I felt very confident after meeting with Alison. Alison gave me help and advice regarding my CV, which she then updated and emailed me daily with job vacancies. I met with Alison on a weekly basis and the support and advice I received was second to none. She also kept in touch by telephone. All in all, Alison helped me on my way and I would highly recommend The Lennox Partnership.”

“Thanks for all your help over the last 3 weeks with the interview process, everything has went very smoothly and we look as though we have recruited two really good kids who should be an asset to the company. All your staff have been so helpful with organising an interview room making sure the kids were in on time and briefed with interview procedures and dress code.  Without doubt The Lennox Partnership has been the best Council/Consortium I have dealt with over the last 3 years and I wish you all the best for the future.” Kenny Stewart, Training Manager, Electrical Services Division, FES.
